CROOKSTON BOY’S SOCCER SEASON COMES TO AN END WITH LOSS TO PELICAN RAPIDS

The Crookston Pirate Boy’ Soccer team knew coming into the first round of the Section 8A Boys Soccer tournament it would be a tough task after losing to Pelican Rapids during the regular season 7-0.  The boys battled hard, but Pelican Rapids was too much as the Vikings cruised to an 8-0 victory.  

Pelican Rapids scored their first goal over seven minutes into the game and added two more goals in the next 10 minutes to take an early 3-0 lead.  Crookston’s defense played solid for the next 10 to 12 minutes, but Pelican Rapids scored another goal late in the half and took a 4-0 lead into halftime. 

In the second half, Pelican Rapids scored three goals in a six-minute span to take a 7-0 lead and added an insurance goal later to cruise to an 8-0 victory. “They boys played very hard,” said Crookston Coach Lon Boike. “Pelican Rapids is a very talented team and the top seed for a reason.  I was proud of the way the boys played and it will be exciting to see how our young team grows in the offseason.”

Crookston’s season comes to an end with a 1-13 record and they say goodbye to seniors – Evan Christensen, Jack Garmen, Blaine Andringa, George French, and Sam Stewart.  
Pelican Rapids improves to 10-4-1 on the year and advances to the Section 8A semi-finals.
