Harvest Church Crookston and Trinity Lutheran Church Crookston in partnership with Farmers to Families will have a drive-through grocery food distribution event today from 10 a.m. until the boxes are gone in the Crookston High School Parking lot. Everyone is welcome. 

The Crookston Eagles will have their Annual Pin and Awards night tonight. All paid Aerie and Auxiliary members of #873 will receive a free stuffed pork chop meal. Non-member guests will be charged $12. The meal will be served from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with State President Randy Beggs and State Madam President Marlene Hanson handing out pins at 6:45. 

The Crookston Figure Skating Club, in cooperation with the Crookston Park and REcreation Department, will present Dreams on Ice 2021..”Nashville Nights” at 6:00 p.m. tonight and 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 28 at the Crookston Sports Center. A limited number of pre-sale tickets will be sold for $5. The show will be live streamed for the community on Facebook. 

The Crookston Pirates Football ‘banquet’ will be Sunday, March 28 at 4 p.m. in the CHS Commons. There will be no meal. Awards only.

Spring Soccer Registration is now open. Spring Soccer will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Carmen Fields from May 4-May 27. Pre-K through Grade 2 will meet from 5:15-6:15 p.m. Grades 3-6 will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Registration is $20 and includes a soccer ball, t-shirt, and MYSA insurance. There will be free COVID-19 testing at the Crookston Armory Monday, March 29 and Tuesday, March 30 from noon-6 p.m.

The first official day of practice for spring sports will be Monday, March 29. The practice times are below: 

  • Softball: 7-12 grade 3:45-5:30 p.m. at Lauf Field behind Highland. 
  • Baseball: 7-8 grader at 3:45 p.m. at Simon Field behind Highland; JV at 3:30 p.m. at Jim Karn Field; Varsity at 4:30 p.m. at Jim Karn Field
  • Boys Track: 3:30-3:45 p.m. in Mr. Folker’s room, then jogging until 5 p.m. 
  • Girls Track: 3:30-5:15 p.m., meet in the gym
  • Girls Golf: 3:45-5 p.m. meet in Ms. Christenson’s room
  • Boys Golf: 7-12 grade at CHS from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Rest of the week at Minakwa from 3:40-5:15 p.m.

The Crookston Youth Basketball Association Tournament is Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10. 

Crookston Public Schools Early Childhood Screening for children  who are 3 years old by January 1, 2021 or 4 and 5 year olds who have not been screened will be held on  April 12, 13 and 15 at Washington Elementary School, 724 University Avenue. Spring Clean-up Week in Crookston will be April 26-30. Clean up items will be picked up only on your regular garbage day and must be on the boulevard, compost material does not need to be in compost bags this week only. Items should be separated into garbage; clothing; cardboard; appliances; branches and yard waste; furniture; metal items; demolition; and tires. Polk County Public Health advises not to bring furniture, mattresses, box springs or bed frames found on the street into your house to prevent the spread of bed bugs. Due to state law, all video display devices – TVs, computer monitors, etc. – can’t be landfilled and will not be collected. They may be disposed of free of charge at the Polk County Transfer Station.  Items may NOT be placed on the boulevard more than 72 hours prior to your collection day.
