Larry Flyberg, age 77, of Ada, MN, died March 6, 2021, at Lilac Homes Memory Care in Dilworth, MN.
Larry Morris Flyberg was born March 16, 1943, in Ada, MN, the son of William Flyberg and Agnes Aanenson Flyberg. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church and attended school in Ada. He was united in marriage at Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley, MN, to Margaret Skaurud on April 7, 1973. They made their home on the farm near Ada, which Larry purchased at the age of 27.
Before Alzheimer’s disease robbed Larry of his vision and abilities, he enjoyed spending time with his brothers. He spent most of his time outdoors, riding four-wheelers and snowmobiles, chopping wood, feeding and caring for animals, clearing trails in the woods, and simply admiring the beauty of nature. He loved all animals. Every animal had a name and became a pet, including the cattle. Larry spent several hours carrying around the cats every day and meticulously cared for the yard. He was very fussy and never let anyone mow the lawn, and never left his tractors and other equipment sit outside to fade in the sun. He enjoyed hunting but would seldom shoot anything – he mainly enjoyed being close to wildlife. Larry avoided large crowds due to his poor hearing.
Larry was employed by S&S Construction for 16 years, before starting at Sellin Brothers, Inc., doing road construction. He started on scrapers and dozers and ended his career as a finishing motor grade operator. He retired in 1999.
Larry lost his battle with Alzheimer’s on March 6, 2021, at Lilac Memory Care in Dilworth, MN. Alzheimer’s robbed him of everything except his fondness for animals, often talking about the cats at the farm.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Margo, Dilworth; children: Tony Flyberg, Andy Flyberg both of Twin Valley and Brenda (Jeremiah) Clifton, Dilworth; grandchildren, Jayden and Jenna both of Dilworth; brother, Leland Aanenson, Backus, MN; brother, Wallace (Janice) Flyberg, Twin Valley; sister, Carol Kuehn, Ada; brother, Alan Pippin, Ada; and several nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, William Flyberg, and Agnes and Carl Pippin; brothers, Donald Flyberg and Carl Jr. Pippin; sisters-in-law: Gloria Flyberg, Vivian Flyberg, and Linda Aanenson; brother-in-law, Ronald Kuehn; and in-laws, Martin and Nellie Skaurud.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Twin Valley, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021, at Anderson Family Funeral Home, Twin Valley. Burial will be in the Twin Valley City Cemetery.
