The Golden Link will have an entertainment committee meeting today at 10 a.m., the Villa Auxiliary meeting at 11:30 p.m., greeting cards and the movie “The Secret – Dare to Dream” at 1 p.m., and canasta at 6 p.m. 

The Fisher American Legion will have Legion & SAL meetings tonight at 7 p.m. 

Wednesday, November 11 is Veteran’s Day.

Crookston Public Schools will have a 2W distance learning day for all students on Wednesday, November 11. Students should work in Google classroom, no zooming. 

Crookston City Hall will be closed Wednesday, November 11. Garbage normally picked up on the Wednesday route will be collected on Thursday, November 12. 

The Crookston Public Library and all Lake Agassiz branches and LINK sites will be closed on Wednesday, November 11. 

The Polk County Transfer Station will be open from 7 a.m. – noon Wednesday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day. Normal hours will resume on Thursday, November 12. 

The Golden Link will have men’s cards Wednesday, November 11 at 8 a.m., SAIL Class at 8:30 a.m., comfort bears from 9-11 a.m., and the movie “The Secret – Dare to Dream” at 1 p.m. 

The Golden Link will have poker Thursday, November 12 at 1 p.m., the movie “The Secret – Dare to Dream” at 3 p.m. and serve dinner at 5:30 p.m. 

The Crookston Public Schools Negotiations Committee will meet with the AFSCME Dietary Staff Thursday, November 12 at 2 p.m. and the AFSCME Custodial Staff at 5 p.m. in the district conference room. No action will be taken at either meeting. 

The Crookston City Council will have a special meet Thursday, November 12 at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. 

RiverView Health is offering a CPR class on Thursday, November 12 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the RiverView Home Care Building, 721 South Minnesota Street in Crookston. Cost is $45 for those needing certification and for those not needing certification the class is free. Due to Covid-19, class sizes are limited, no walk-ins will be allowed and face masks are required. To register, call 218-281-9405. 

The Crookston Eagles will have bar bingo Thursday, November 12 at 7 p.m. and the kitchen will be serving assorted baskets from 6-8 p.m.

The United Way of Crookston is holding an online auction to raise money for the fight against hunger. The auction runs through November 15 and can be accessed at www.32auctions.com/unitedwayofcrookston

The Villa St. Vincent will have a cash and grocery drive for the month of November. The public is invited to participate as cash and non-perishable food items will be collected at the Villa’s front entrance. Not only does the mission of the Villa St. Vincent and Benedictine include compassionate and quality care, but also “attention to the underserved and creating compassionate communities.” All proceeds will be donated to the Care & Share.

Due to COVID restrictions the annual Crookston’s Ecumenical Thanksgiving Dinner will be take-out meals only. The meals will include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, and pumpkin pie. Pickup will be Thursday, November 26 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Cathedral, 702 Summit Ave. There is no charge for the meal. Call 218-281-5727 to request the number of required meals.

A fundraising benefit will be held Saturday, January 9 from 1-7 p.m. at the Ruffed Grouse Roadhouse Bar and Grill south of Lengby for Loren Nesvold who was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma. The Golden Link has biscuits and gravy Mondays at 8 a.m. $2 for one biscuit with gravy, $3 for two biscuits with gravy, $1 for a plain biscuit. 

The Crookston Friends of the Library meet the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m.

The Crookston Library Board meets the first Wednesday of each month at 5:15. 

The Cove Youth Center in Crookston will be open Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:30-6:30 p.m. for 7th-8th graders, and from 6:30-9:30 p.m. for 9th-12th graders. The facility is currently limited to 14 students at one time due to COVID-19. Students and parents should call ahead to check availability of the youth center at 218-470-0149.

Polk County Public Health is available to answer questions about COVID 19, and help obtain essential services such as groceries, medications, and other daily items at 281-3385.  The phone is staffed Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Hugo’s Family Marketplace is offering shopping for seniors and people with illnesses from 6-7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, and 8-9 a.m. Saturdays, and Sundays during the COVID-19 pandemic.
