Crookston High School has announced the recipients of the Triple A and ExCEL Awards for 2019-2020.
The Triple A recipients are Katherine Geist and Benjamin Brantner. The purpose of the Triple A award is to recognize and honor high school seniors who have excelled in the classroom, on the athletic field, and in fine arts.
The ExCEL Award recipients are Emma Borowicz and Lucas Winger. The ExCEL award is to recognize and honor high school juniors who excel in the classroom, on the athletic field, and in fine arts as well as who hold a leadership position in the school and volunteer in the community.
Katherine Geist: (Parents: Daniel and Sara Geist) Katherine is active in cross country, track and field, orchestra and has been involved in speech and visual arts.
Benjamin Brantner: (Parents: Jason and Kerri Brantner) Benjamin is active in soccer, track and field, band, orchestra, speech, and visual arts.
Emma Borowicz: (Parents: Garrett and Jennifer Borowicz) Emma is active in tennis, basketball, track, and field. She has been involved in swimming, band and math league. She enjoys volunteering and participating in various school, church and community activities. At school, she is involved in Leo Club, a member of the student council and volunteers as a timer at swim meets. At her church, she helps with the youth group, sings in the choir and is a server. She volunteers for the Crookston Youth Basketball Association, Riverview Health Home Delivered Meals, the Crookston Youth Center, Lions Club, and Food Bank.
Lucas Winger: (Parents: Mike and Adrianne Winger) Lucas is active in football, basketball, golf, concert band, marching band, and pep band. He enjoys volunteering and participating in various school, church and community activities. He is involved in the Leo Club and Prom Committee. He volunteers at his church helping out with youth group, at the homeless shelter, food packing and delivery, decorating and nursery work. He also volunteers with the Safety Town Program, as a team leader, teaching upcoming kindergarteners the importance of safety.
