The Crookston American Legion Auxiliary Nels T Wold Unit 20 is joining all other Units worldwide to celebrate the 100th birthday of the American Legion Auxiliary.  Crookston’s celebration will take place on Wednesday, November 6 with a social at 5:30 pm, dinner at 6 and a program to follow at the Crookston VFW upper hall.  All paid members are invited to attend for $5.00.  Please RSVP to Sharon Lanctot at 218-289-7358 by Friday, November 1.

Special guests for the evening are Department of Minnesota President Mary Hendrickson of Duluth and District 9 President Pat Hanson of Middle River. Department President Hendrickson’s theme is “Remember, Honor, Serve.” Her symbol is the Poppy and her project is to collect funds for two used golf carts for Veterans on the Lake, a big screen for the Silver Bay Veterans Home patio and PTSD programs in Minnesota.  District President Hanson’s theme is “Bikers Roll On.”  Her symbol is a Motorcycle and her project is raising funds for the American Legion Rider’s Legacy Fund and the Fergus Falls Veterans Home.

The American Legion Auxiliary was established to support the American Legion and our nation’s veterans in 1919, Minnesota was the First American Legion Auxiliary Department. Crookston American Legion Auxiliary, Nels T Wold Unit 20 received its charter in 1925. The Crookston Auxiliary has remained very active.  Programs participated in include Americanism, Children and Youth, Education, Girls State, Junior Activities, Legislation, National Security, Public Relations, Veterans Affairs, and Rehabilitation Auxiliary Emergency Fund, Past Presidents Parley, Membership, History and Leadership.
