The University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) Golden Eagles Women’s Soccer team generated just one shot on goal in 7-0 loss against the University of Mary in an NSIC match played at the East Grand Forks Senior High School Field after the match was postponed on Friday due to inclement weather.
The University of Mary used a pair of quick goals to jump out to an early lead and never looked back. Patricia Martin (Sr., Helena, MT) scored 15:31 into the match before Noelle Vigneri (Fr., Casper, WY) doubled the visitors lead just 15-seconds later giving UMary a 2-0 lead.
The Marauders continued to dominate possession in the second half leading to five more goals. Maureen Sullivan (R-Fr., Chisago City) scored in the 53rd minute making it 3-0 before she added a second goal in the 70th minute giving the University of Mary a 4-0 advantage. The visitors added three more goals in the final 20 minutes of the match earning a 7-0 victory while preventing the Golden Eagles from scoring for the sixth time in eight matches.
Minnesota Crookston falls to 0-8 overall and 0-7 in conference play. The Golden Eagles return to the pitch on Friday when UMC travels to Mankato to take on Minnesota State at 1:00 P.M. UMary improves to 5-2-2 overall and 3-2-2 in the NSIC.
