Norman County Social Services Eligibility Worker

Norman County Social Services is adding an Eligibility Worker to the team.  An Eligibility Worker works with clients on intake, determining program eligibility, recertifications, case management and other administrative duties.  This is a Full Time, 35 hour/week employment opportunity with a great benefit package including health, dental, vision, 457 retirement, vacation, sick leave and a pension.  Applicant must pass a criminal background check upon hire.  Position is located in Ada, MN.

Duties:

  • Responsible for the proper administration of all income maintenance programs, including all cash, food and health care programs as assigned.
  • The worker must have knowledge of allied programs so that appropriate referrals can be made.
  • Informing public of and assisting with policies, rules and procedures for all income maintenance program.
  • Assisting with application process.
  • Referring to other available services and resources within the community.
  • Contribute to a positive attitude in the office.
  • Conduct oneself as a team player.
  • There is considerable freedom to act and to problem solve in this position. The entire process from initial application through eligibility determination and eligibility reviews is accomplished independently by the worker.
  • Expected to make correct determinations based upon investigation of the situation and review of the appropriate informational resources.
  • Day to day work is defined by federal, state and county regulations, policies and procedures.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum education requirements for this position are two years of college and successful completion of the Minnesota Merit System Examination.
  • Knowledge of interviewing skills and techniques. Ability to accurately and rapidly process detailed information, interpret legal documents, tax forms, complex rules, manual materials and bulletins as they apply to income maintenance programs.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of clients, ability to make decisions, remain objective and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients, the public, co-workers and administration.
  • Must possess intuitive knowledge of human behavior to prevent exposure to vulnerable situations/abusive clients and to maintain security within the work and personal environment.
  • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize a workload are a must.

The City of Crookston is seeking qualified candidates for Airport Maintenance.

Seasonal Airport Maintenance:
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license. The average work week is 40 hours, typically M-F, 8-5 or M-Th 10 hr. days. This is flexible as long as the work gets done. Starting wage is $18/hr.

Duties include the following: mowing, (some push, mainly front mount mower and tractor with pull behind mower), weed trimming, and other outside lawn and grounds maintenance. Also, cleaning of terminal building inside and outside and cleaning and light maintenance of aircraft hangars, (changing light bulbs, lubing doors & hinges). Other items as they come up.
