*1 The City of Crookston and surrounding area was hit by high winds when a thunderstorm moved through Saturday night, just after nine o'clock. The National Weather Service out of Grand Forks reported winds up to 62 miles per hour in
Fisher and high winds over 50 miles per hour were reported in Crookston. The winds struck out of the blue, with little advanced warning, and the thunderstorm followed with heavy rains and lightning. Concerned residents flooded KROX Radio
with calls wondering if a tornado was coming, because the winds were so strong and loud. Two small evergreens were uprooted at the Crookston High School Tennis Courts and several small trees were split and blown down throughout town.

*1 Mentor had a report of a tornado at 6:30 p.m. that leveled the Mentor Convenience Store and destroyed four cars. The Mentor tornado wasn't the only funnel cloud that was spotted in the area as the National Weather Service of
Grand Forks, North Dakota released a tornado warning Thursday evening before 6:00 p.m. because of a line of severe thunderstorms moving through the area along a line extending from three miles North of Alvarado to near Gentilly
to three miles Northeast of Faith. Several KROX listeners called in reports of a funnel cloud two miles Northeast of Fisher, which was confirmed by a spotter and Crookston Police Chief Tim Motherway confirmed the funnel cloud
report. A second funnel cloud report was called in shortly after 6:00 p.m., this time the location was eight miles East of Crookston. A third report of a funnel cloud was called by another KROX listener, this time outside of Gentilly
and the fourth funnel cloud was reported eight miles West of Red Lake Falls, near the Huot area. Damage was also reported by the Crookston airport. Wadena tornado levels West side of city.
*2 tornado warning was issued for the Mentor and Maple Lake area Monday afternoon, three days after a tornado killed a man at the Mentor. The storm developed quickly and started three miles south of Crookston and moved to the east at 15 to 20 miles an hour. As the storm approached the Maple Lake and Mentor area funnel clouds were reported. According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks two funnels were reported north and west of Mentor at 4:49 and then at 5:11 a funnel cloud was report by a spotter three miles northeast of Mentor. The tornado warning was allowed to expire at 5:30 p.m. after the storm weakened.
*3 Pea size hail accumulating 1" at Gentilly Bridge, 2" Rain 3 mi. South of Warren
