February, 2007 classes:
Basic Excel
Instructor: Mark Anderson, at the Public Library, Mon., Feb 5, Feb. 12 and Feb.26, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Fee: $35 Min. enrollment- 4 Max.- 8 Learn how to set up a spreadsheet, apply basic math functions and do a mail merger from an address list. Some computer experience please and note that it is 4 sessions.
Kids Photo Class—Parents and Kids
Instructor: Rand Hughes, CHS Industrial Arts Room,
Mon., Feb. 26, 6:00 –8:00 p.m., Fee: $30, Min. enrollment: 5 , Max: 15. A
quick course to jump start the point and shoot gang. How to take, e-mail or
print photos.
Taco’s and Salsa Night
Instructor: Elva Bissonette, Tues., Feb. 20, 7:00–9:00
p.m. Fee: $15 + Supplies: $7.00. Come join Elva Bissonette for an
authentic Mexican Meal. Elva will show you Elva will show you how to cook a
healthy Mexican meal and you will have a chance to sample the food at a sit down
meal.
Donna Dewberry's One Stroke Painting - Beginners Project Classes
Ruth Bach, a certified Donna Dewberry One Stroke painting
instructor, will teach the following classes: Please ask for a supply list when
you register. All One Stroke classes are held at CHS Art Room.
Spring Hanging Tealights, Tues., Feb. 6, Time: 6:00 - 9:30 p.m., Fee: $56
supplies included or class fee $28 and supply fee $30 Min. enrollment- 4 Max.-
10 You will be introduced to a painting technique similar to tole painting but
much easier to learn.
Design and Create a Quilt
Instructor: Gale Melby, Thurs., Feb. 1, 8 & 22,
6:30—8:30 p.m. Washington School Computer Lab Fee: $25 Min.enrollment –5,
Max.—10. Strip quilting is a technique that used long strips of fabric sewn
together in assembly line fashion, then cut apart and reassembled into different
pieces or blocks. This fun and easy method is a great way to get started
quilting. Please ask for a supply list when you register.
Stamping Class
Instructor: Sarah Dryburgh, Mon., Feb. 5, 6:00 – 8:00
p.m. , CHS Art Room Fee: $15 + $5 supply fee , Max. enrollment: 10 Beginner and
experienced stampers will learn different techniques and ways to use stamps. We
will make a handcrafted card, gift item and a home décor item. Experience the
fun and versatile stamping.
Build Your Own Fishing Rod
Instructor: Rod Engel in Fisher, MN ask for
directions when registering. Tues., Feb. 6, 13 & 20, 7:00 – 9:00
p.m., Fee - $15 + supply fee, Max: 8. Fishing enthusiasts of all ages will enjoy
this class. To get started you’ll learn the principles of building different
types of rods and order the materials necessary for your rod of choice. The
sessions will focus on rod construction.

Tree Care Practices and ID
Instructor: Sam Kezar, Certified Arborist at the
Crookston Public Library, Mon., Mar. 12, 19 & 26 , 6:30—8:00 p.m. Fee: $30
Min. enrollment- 5. You will learn how to properly identify the most common
trees in NW Minnesota, be introduced to new cultivars of trees hardy to this
area and how to properly take care of urban trees. This class will cover proper
pruning and maintenance of trees plus proper planting and training of young
trees.
Cake Decorating: Instructor
Chasity Sannes, Thurs. Mar 22, 7:00 – 9:00
p.m. Fee:$15 + Supplies: $7. Min, enrollment- 5 , Max: 15 Place: CHS Consumer
Science Room This class will cover the basics of cake decorating including
writing, borders, and a variety of flowers. Fee includes cakes and frosting.
Photoshop Elements—Digital Photo Manipulations
Instructor Rand Hughes, CHS Ind. Arts Room,
Mon., Mar 12 & Tue., Mar. 13, 5:30 – 9:00 p.m. Fee: $40, Min. enrollment -
5 Max. - 15 If you want to kick your photos up a notch, this is the class for
you. This novice class is for those who use or want to use Adobe Photoshop
Elements. Learn how to make a good photo great, using several manipulation
techniques using layers. Remove unwanted areas or fix damaged photos, brighten
colors, change DCP1 to email or print, and much more.
Let’s Dance
Instructor: Bill and Barb Fahey, American
Legion, 7:00 - 9:30 p.m., Thurs., Mar 15,22,29,and Apr. 5, Fee: $35/couple, Max
- 10 couples. Do you want to dance or do you want to learn dance steps like the
swing, western swing, the waltz, polka, slow dance and more? Join us in a smoke
free setting to enjoy dancing as a couple or to learn the how to’s of dance
steps.

Chess For Kids
Instructor: Superintendent Wayne Gilman, Highland
School, Thursdays, April 12,19, 26, and May 3, 10 and 17, 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Fee:
No Charge ! Chess, a game of strategy and tactics, will be offered at Highland
School for boys and girls in grades 4 thru 7 . High School students are welcome
also, to learn or assist. Whether you are a beginner or an intermediate Chess
player, come join instructor, Superintendent Wayne Gilman in a relaxed
atmosphere to learn and play the game of Chess.

Gardening With Dawn
Instructor- Dawn Resendiz, Thurs., May 17, 6:00
– 8:00 p.m., D& D Thomforde’s Garden Center, Fee: $15 + supply fee $12,
Max. enrollment: 10 Dawn will show you techniques for preparing your plants for
spring planting and discuss what can be planted this time of the year. Plus, you
will create a fresh plant container garden that you can bring home.

Pakistan food in this hands on Pakistan cooking class.
Babysitting Clinic
Place: Washington School Cafeteria, Date: To be announced,
10:00 – 1:00 pm. Fee: $17.00 includes a book, handout & pizza lunch.
Are you between the ages of 11 and 13 and want to be certified as a
babysitter? Learn how to care for young children from child care experts,
a kindergarten teacher, a nurse, a fireman and Mary Ann Odland and
the CHS Leo club. Lunch will be included.
