The Northwest Chapter of American Bikers for Awareness, Training and Education (A.B.A.T.E.) will hold their 31st Annual Spring Ride-In today through June 9 at St. Hilaire Municipal Park.  $40 for a weekend pass, $30 after noon on Saturday. There is free primitive camping, showers, bathrooms with live music and bonfires both nights. There will also be food, beer and games.

Attend Mentor Farmers Market on June 8th for the 2nd Annual “Audrey’s Lemonade Stand”. This event is part of a nation wide fundraiser for the Foundation For Childhood Cancer. One of the local Maple Lake families has a story to tell regarding the Foundation and their adorable daughter Audrey. Come and meet Jon and Kristy Fitzgerald and their extended family as they brighten up the park with smiles, lemonade and a story of recovery. Sip lemonade and contribute to this great cause.

The University of Minnesota Crookston softball program will hold a summer hitting and pitching clinic Saturday, June 8 on the University of Minnesota Crookston campus. The pitching camp will run from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., while the hitting clinic will commence at 1 p.m., and conclude at 3 p.m. The cost of the camp is $50 per session and $90 if attending both sessions.

The Crookston Eagles will have bar bingo Saturday, June 8 at 3:30 p.m., $400 must go.  Dinner will be served from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with choice of Chicken Parmesan ($11) or Walleye ($14).  Takeout is available.

Side Street Bar and Grill in Fertile will have a an appetizer/wing contest fundraiser for Matt Larson on Saturday, June 8 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and they are looking for contestants. There is a $10 entry fee and prizes for 1st and 2nd place. A free will donation will be taken to sample and vote.  All proceeds will go to the Matt Larson Medical Recovery. Contact Liz at 945-6830.

The 15th Annual RiverView Foundation Golf Classic will be held Monday, June 10th at Minakwa Golf Course.  This is a popular tournament and player spots are limited. The Crookston Gun Club Trap and Sporting Clays Leagues begin on Monday ,June 10.  League nights will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings. The Eat United Summer Food Service Program begins Monday, June 10 – Thursday, August 8 from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Highland and Wildwood Parks.  Kids 0-18 eat free. There is no program the week of July 4.

Experience the power of live theatre with a performance of “The Lion & the Mouse”, a mini-play intended for children ages 3-10 at the Crookston Public Library Thursday, June 13 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Discover the story of a mouse who dreams of being a superhero who can travel to outer space! Learn about being kind, fair and how big things come in small packages. This event is offered free of charge thanks to funding from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy Fund.

Hospice of the Red River Valley is offering a seasonal grief support group Thursday, June 13 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Crookston Public Library. The grief support group is free and open to any adult 18 years and older who are grieving the loss of a loved one through death. There is no pre-registration required to attend the group.

The Crookston American Legion Auxiliary Nels T Wold Unit 20 will hold their final monthly meeting of the year on Thursday, June13 at 5:30 p.m. at the Crookston VFW.  All members are welcome.

The 38th Annual F.C.A. Texas Scramble will be Saturday, June 15 at Minakwa Golf Course. Entry fee is $55 and includes green fees, coffee rolls, lunch, and soft drinks on the course. Trinity’s Annual Rhubarb Festival will be Thursday, June 20 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. Menu includes Trinity Festival Turkey salad, rhubarb salad, rolls, rhubarb desserts and beverage. There’s also a rhubarb punch and tasting table. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 6-12. The Summer Food Service Program runs Monday through Friday until August 17.  Free meals are available for kids and teens at the Crookston Family Service Center.  Breakfast is 8:00 to 9:30 a.m., lunch is 10:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Due to the RiverView Health construction, the south entrance to the Altru Clinic parking lot will be closed effective until further notice. Please use Carroll Street to access the north entrance to the Altru Clinic parking lot.  Altru Clinic will like to apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Branch and twig collection will be held the second and fourth Mondays of each month running May through October.  Place the materials on your curbside. Branches must be cut in four-foot lengths and bundled in order for the crews to take them away.  Any branches or tree trunks not cut to this length and bundled will be left for the owner to haul away. Twigs may be in boxes or bags. Individuals removing their diseased elm trees should call City Hall to schedule pickup.It’s never too late to learn. Riverview Health’s monthly Type 2 Diabetes Support Group meets the fourth Wednesday of every month from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at RiverView Health in Meeting Room 1.  The group is led by RiverView Dietitian Darcy Larson, RD, LD and Kelsey Billing, RN, BSN. The Type 2 meetings are open to anyone with Type 2 diabetes and their family members.  New members are always welcome.

Every Thursday at 10:30 a.m., preschool children and their caregivers are invited to Storytime at the Crookston Public Library. Each week, they’ll explore a different theme through stories, songs, finger plays, flannel board stories, and a craft. No pre-registration is required, but they ask childcare providers and other groups to call ahead to ensure there will be adequate supplies at 281-4522.
