VICTORIA PROULX PLACES 13TH AT STATE SPEECH CONTEST

Victoria Proulx, a Sophomore at Crookston High School, returned from the Minnesota State High School League State Speech Tournament with a very solid showing in her category of storytelling.  At her first appearance at the state contest, Victoria tied for 13th place out of 24 performing. The meld, or the total of the scores each contestant received in 3 preliminary rounds, needed to be 9 or less to make the final round; Victoria received an 11.  “It was a wonderful experience competing with the best storytellers in the state,” said Coach Phyllis Hagen.  “Due to the April blizzard, Victoria and I appreciate the extra effort the school made to get her to the competition.”
Victoria got home Friday evening and woke up early to deliver frozen food for the Crookston Music Trip and she is also in the school play that had performances on Saturday and Sunday evening and a performance Monday night at 7:30 and Tuesday morning.
