The Mite White team had three games over the weekend.  It started off with a 6-4 loss against Hallock, we started out slow but played very well towards the end of the game.  We then suffered a couple big losses against EGF green and white. I thought that as a team we worked hard even though we found ourselves behind in every game this weekend.  Brodie Meyer and Kegan Erickson did very well playing defense and going hard for the puck when they had the chance. Scoring this week for the white was Rowan Benoit, Jacob Biermaier, Tucker Labinski, Bladen Melsa, and Brodie Meyer.  Even though we didn’t get a lot of shots on net we took advantage of the ones we did.
Player of the week for the white is Brodie Meyer.  Brodie has really stepped it up in practice the last couple of weeks and now has goals two weeks in a row.  It is a lot of fun watching how hard he has been working and getting rewarded for it. Keep up the good work Brodie.

The Mite Blue had 3 away games last weekend. Saturday we traveled to Hallock and played a good game, but had a hard time hitting the back of the net. We left there with a 1-4 loss with Braxton Miller scoring the lone goal. Sunday we played two games in East Grand Forks. First, we played EGF White, which was by far the most talented team we have ever played. Even though we took a big loss (14-2) the boys didn’t give up and showed that they are improving. Scoring for Crookston was Caden Perry & Brayden Wahl. The Second team we played was the EGF Grey. Again this was a talented team, however, the boys played extremely well and the 10-5 loss sure did not reflect the gameplay on the ice! Scoring for Crookston was Davin Janek, Caden Perry(2), and Braxton Miller(2).
This weeks Player of the week is Braxton Miller. Braxton has really improved his skating skills along with better positioning on the ice. His hard work in practice transferred to the games this weekend getting 3 nice goals! Congratulations Braxton! Keep up the hard work!

Crookston 8U hosted East Grand Forks last weekend.  Crookston took home the win with a score of 8-2. With another win under their belts, it leaves our 8U girls undefeated.  Peyton Demarais was our goalie this week and did a fantastic job keeping those pucks out of the net. Our defensive players did an amazing job of stopping the puck from leaving the offensive zone and keeping the shots on our net to a minimum.  Hailey Fritz, Shyuh Burnette, and Abby Lane were a few of the stand-out defensive players this week. The girls are working hard at learning all positions and looking for opportunities to pass the puck. Game goals were scored by Hailey Fritz, Adley Vigness, Rilynn Aubol(assist), Irelynn Trostad, and Sydney McDonald.
Player of the week goes to Irelynn Trostad!  Irelynn scored her first career goal against EGF. Irelynn started playing hockey only a year ago. She has come a long way in that year and she continues to grow on and off the ice.  Irelynn has made huge improvements in both practices and games by working hard, listening and keeping a positive attitude. The skies the limit now and it will be an exciting season watching her spread her wings and fly. Congratulations to Irelynn!

Crookston Squirt A was on the road this weekend.  First stop was Fergus Falls on Saturday afternoon with Crookston taking the win 7-0.  They headed to Fargo that evening, where they defeated the Angels 14-4.
Our player of the week is Isaiah Donarski.  Way to work hard Isaiah, keep it up!

We had a busy weekend at home. Saturday we played 2 Fargo Freeze teams- Maroon and Gold. Against the Gold, we got on the board with Cam Duncan scoring 59 seconds into the game- the assist going to Jace Bruggeman. Fargo scored two before Hudson Rick scored for Crookston, unassisted. Fargo proceeded to score two more to finish the period with us down 2-4. In the second, Wyatt Marsyla scored his very first goal of the season, unassisted. Shortly after Hudson Rick scored his second goal of the game, unassisted. With 49 seconds left in the 2nd, Wyatt Marsyla scored his 2nd goal of the game- unassisted, putting us up at 5-4 to start the 3rd period. 3rd period Fargo scores two, putting them at 6. Crookston loses 6-5. A heartbreaking ending!
For our second game Saturday- against the Maroon team, Hudson Rick starts off the scoring with a sweet short-hander, assisted by Wyatt Marsyla and Jace Bruggeman. A minute and a half later, Hudson Rick scores again, assisted by Wyatt Marsyla. Later on in the 1st, Hudson Rick scores a hatty – assisted by Aiden Weiland, putting us up 3-1 after 1. In the 2nd Cam Martin scores his very first ever goal, assisted by Kira Daniels. The look on his face was priceless and unforgettable. It really was exciting for the team and we all celebrated! Way to go Cam!! Shortly after, Cam Duncan scores, unassisted- then Wyatt Marsyla, assisted by Hudson Rick, putting us up 6-2 after 2. In the 3rd, towards the end, Fargo is on a power play- Hudson Rick scores his 2nd shorty of the game, assisted by Wyatt Marsyla. A few seconds later Cam Duncan scores a shorty and his second of the game, unassisted- giving Crookston Squirt B’s their first win of the season!! 8-2 ending. It was an exciting day with lots of “firsts” for our team! It was fun to see them all come together as a team and celebrate every single victory.

Sunday we had our 3rd game of the weekend. We played LOW. Hudson Rick and Cam Duncan scored our two goals of the game, both unassisted, losing 8-2.
Player of the week is Hudson Rick! He had a great weekend with 7 goals and 1 assist. He works hard every time he steps on the ice, whether for practice or game time. He knows where to be positionally – on defense or forward. He’s a leader, he’s a kind, coachable kid with a positive attitude. Keep it up Hudson!

The 10U girls took on Hibbing at home, twice this past weekend.  The first game on Saturday evening was a nail-biter, with the score going back and forth most of the game.  The Pirates won 7-6 in overtime, with Logan Brekken scoring the game winner!  Scoring for Crookston were Emma LaPlante (3), Logan Brekken (2), Alexa Bartrum, and Emmi Trostad.  Adelia Weiland was in net, with 8 saves.  The second game against Hibbing was played on Sunday, and was another close one!  It ended in a 3-3 tie, after overtime.  Scoring for Crookston were Emma LaPlante (2) and Mya Bower.  The girls head north this next weekend, taking on Warroad on Saturday and Roseau on Sunday.
Player of the Week:  Claire McDonald – Claire is a strong defenseman on the ice.  Her hockey sense and positioning are very good, and she is also getting confident in her ability to push the puck up the ice in offensive attacks as well.  She is a hardworking and very coachable player and has become a great teammate to everyone.  Keep up the good work, Claire.

This weekend the Pee Wee A traveled to Hibbing for a tournament.  They lost to International Falls 5-3, Little Falls, 7-1, Monticello 8-0, and Andover 7-3.
Congratulations to Jackson Reese on being named Peewee A player of the week. Jackson is an aggressive defenseman who is not afraid to mix it up with his opponents.  Jackson also is a reliable player who his teammates can count on during key situations.

The PeeWees’s played at home on Friday night and played a complete game from start to finish, winning 6-0 in their best performance of the season. Sunday we traveled to Fargo to play the Angel’s we lost this game 3-1, they sealed the game with a late goal with about 15 seconds left. Both games were fun to be a part of and they are the types of games that keep the kids coming back to the rink. Both games were extremely competitive and we left it all out on the ice in each.
Player of the Week: Dylan Thode, he had a shutout in a team effort on Friday and played well and kept us in the game on Sunday. Dylan has a competitive side to him that is exactly what you want out of your goalie he goes out there and competes every game.
